Hydration is the Secret Sauce!
Share
Regardless of the skin challenge, hydration is my first choice towards a solution!
Let's look at grapes and raisins for an easy visual. The difference is time and moisture, much like our cells. Imagine well hydrated skin cells are grapes with strong barriers that can hold and maintain moisture supporting strong structure for smoother skin. Now consider the raisin as a dry, dehydrated skin cell with loss of elasticity that can exaggerate lines and wrinkles in sagging skin. While topical moisture can and does smooth the surface of the skin, it is internal hydration that plumps at the cellular level. Remember also the cells closest to the surface will be shed, so the way you support the skin from the inside actually has a longer impact on the life of a skin cell. This is why supplements are so important in healthy skin. Email help@denamcgill.com for a list of my top 10 skin supporting supplements.
What can moisture help? Dry skin? Fine lines and wrinkles? Moisture plus hyaluronic acid day and night. Oily or Teenage Skin? Oil Free Moisture to signal less oil production. Irritated Skin? Moisture with barrier repair. Oncology Recovery? Gentle Moisture with barrier recovery. Congested skin? Moisture, well hydrated skin exfoliates better. (blog coming soon on this)
Wouldn't it be easier to get injections? Maybe, but what is the long term effect?
I've seen some beautiful work done when I worked for a plastic surgeon, but you must know it requires ongoing maintenance. The substances can move and are absorbed by the body at different rates with no way to know how your body will respond until its done.
Let's use a balloon for this analogy. While mostly smooth when new, an empty balloon is completely smooth once filled with air or water. However, when the balloon deflates, it has less elasticity and more visible lines than before it was filled. Same is true with your skin, especially the lips. A personal choice for sure, but my preference is to support from within with good supplements and a healthy daily water intake.
So drink some water and use your moisturizer!! You can see that internal and external hydration are important parts of the process for that glowing, plump, supple skin we all want. For the absolute best results, adding the support of my favorite antioxidant drink (NingXia Red) will take your entire routine to the next level!
